Go and see Our Capital
Friday 29 February 2008 @ 9:03 pm

They have got 100s of choices for dining in The capital, this is probably thanks to the varied races the city contains, so practically anything you really hunger for might be decidedly near to you. If you’re not seeking to shop and you feel you want to do things, excluding drinking & eating within great value cafes, then there is immeasurable galleries, general attractions & museums to look out for.

The following is a note of a small number of of them:

The city’s Millennium Wheel really must be seen every tour of our capital city. The 32 modules hoists the day trippers around and, due to the way in which it’s assembled, the eye allows one to appreciate a full sweep, providing you’re at maximum height of the disk. Everyone are able to get tickets for the Millennium Wheel on the web which is probably the best idea as it should save everyone lots of waiting around. The Millennium Wheel is 1 time when visitors should not forget to bring their camcorders. If you’re going to London you need to check out Time Out.

The city’s Natural History Museum makes it fun contemplating the tremendous natural world around us and is definitely to be something that will suck in all the distinct generations. Reserve the entire day-out for this place since it might well take most of the day-out, simply to walk round & revel in everything.

The Tate Modern exhibition is built at an old power plant and it comes with a monumental position directly opposite St Paul’s Cathedral on the River.

Everyone will often visit the London Eye again and again because it’s free admission. The shows are updated routinely and hence it’s akin to going for the first time, each respective time you go. Folks can usually get immense works of art in the central space. Right outside the building you’ll see the Millennium Bridge which is phenomenal.

Take Responsibility and Don’t Blame
Friday 29 February 2008 @ 8:41 pm

Most of us grow up believing that we each have a purpose or a
destiny. I also believe that to be so. Unfortunately, many blame
their destiny on so many different elements of their lives. I do
believe there are certain circumstances or factors that
interfere or change our destiny that are beyond our control.

What I do believe however, is that the way we approach these
challenges or obstacles can also alter the outlook of things.
Let’s take for instance the philosophy of the paths we take. We
each walk down a path in life. Our paths can have many forks in
them, some more than others. We may not be able to choose the
path we are on but we can choose to turn right or left. What do
we do when we realize we have made a wrong turn? It sounds so
simple; we just turn around and go back. Sometimes that is not
an option so we move forward waiting for the next fork in hopes
that our next turn will lead us back on the correct path.

What do we do when we walk so far only to find an obstacle
blocking the path we want to take? We could try to turn around
or stop and let that obstacle hinder us from moving on. We could
bravely climb over that obstacle or what if it was so easy to
walk around it? There is no correct answer, except in our
hearts.

The most important aspect is that we have a choice. We have the
freedom to choose. We may not like the choices presented to us,
but we do a have a choice. Sometimes we feel life is unfair,
that no matter which path we take we are challenged with more
obstacles than our neighbor.

Who can we blame? Who can we depend on? Some of us rely on our
faith to help us through our difficult journeys while the rest
of us are left to figure out what our faith really is. Some of
us blame our neighbor for our obstacles in life while some blame
God. How do we get past blaming anyone? We choose to do so. What
happens to those that never get past the blame stage?

I do not have an answer. I can only hope that one day they
realize that they have to make the choice to move on and to
accept the good with the bad. What would life be without its ups
and downs? It would not be life. Things do happen for a reason.
We may not seem to understand these things now but we have to
move on.

We have to continue living in hopes that we can learn from our
past and that our experiences give us the will to live better
lives. If not sculpt the being that we have become but perhaps
reinforce the appreciation of life itself. With all hopes to
find peace within our precious lives and not be a tormented
soul.

Wine Etiquette With Ease
Friday 29 February 2008 @ 2:41 am

Correct wine etiquette makes the tasting experience much more enjoyable. Like most interests, there is a set of protocol that most wine lovers adhere to. Good taste dictates that tasting at wineries, ordering wine at restaurants, and hosting a dinner party all require certain formalities.

Tasting Room Etiquette

In a winery’s tasting room, white wines are generally tasted first, followed by reds, and then dessert wines. Within these categories, lighter-bodied wines preceed fuller-bodied ones. Water and crackers may be offered to cleanse the palate between each wine. Correct wine etiquette does not dictate that you must finish every glass. Winery tasting rooms provide jars to dispose of excess wine. Do not feel that you need to sample every wine offered- taste what appeals to you.

If you ask for a second tasting of a particular wine, it is in good taste to buy a bottle. Many wineries charge tasting fees which are generally applied to any purchase. It is not mandatory that you buy wine; purchase only what you desire. That being said, if you have made an appointment at a small winery, it is in good taste to make a purchase. Proper wine etiquette dictates that you not bring children to a tasting room.

General Restaurant Wine Etiquette

Wine service at a nice restaurant can be an unneccessarily difficult ordeal. The following tips will allow you to follow the customs of wine service with ease and confidence.

When choosing a wine from a restaurant’s wine list, the main goal is to accomplish a suitable pairing with the entrees of your party. If the food orders are too different to generalize with one wine, consider purchasing splits or ordering by the glass. Waiters and sommeliers are there to answer your questions, but availing yourself to their services and advice will be much more beneficial if your questions are relatively specific.

For example, don’t ask the sommelier, “What goes well with a rack of lamb?” Rather, ask, “I’d like to balance the spiciness of the lamb with a full-bodied, Syrah-based Rhone. Do you have any favorites?” Your effort will be appreciated and service and interaction will be more seamless. I guarentee you will be more pleased with the outcome.

After ordering, the waiter/sommelier will retrieve your selection, and then present it, label forward, to the host of the party. This is merely to verify it is the correct wine. The cork is removed and placed on the table. Unless it is clearly tainted, (the waiter/sommelier should notice if it is) do not touch or smell it, as it means nothing.

A small amount will then be poured for the host. Swirl the wine in the glass, smell, then taste. This is to make sure the wine is not spoiled and is not an opportunity to send back a sound wine that you are not crazy about. After approval, the wine will be poured clockwise to the right, ladies first. The host’s glass will be topped last.

Corkage Etiquette

It is increasingly customary in many parts of the country for restaurants to extend corkage policies for patrons whom wish to bring their own wine. However, this is not the case everywhere, (especially on the East Coast), and proper wine etiquette dictates that several things should be kept in mind.

Always call the restaurant in advance to verify that corkage is allowed. Also ask what the fee is to avoid any surprises. In my experience, very few restaurants charge over $20 as a corkage fee. Some restaurants will waive this fee if an additional bottle is purchased from the wine list, but do not assume that this is always the case.

Wine brought to a restaurant should be relatively unique or rare, and definitely should not appear on the restaurant’s wine list. After the waiter/sommelier opens and pours the contents, proper wine etiquette dictates that you offer them a taste. Following these guidelines will ensure that both you and the restaurant staff are happy.

The Duty of the Host at Dinner Parties

The duty of the host toward his/her guests is one of the most ancient and enduring forms of etiquette in human civilization. When serving wine, making sure that your guests are comfortable with the process should be your paramount concern.

Before serving, always allow wine time to breathe at room temperature. Never pour wine for guests immediately after opening. It is the host’s responsibility to discreetly ensure that the wine is sound and unspoiled. This should be done away from company, and a small amount should be sampled.

Always serve wine to your guests in clean, spotless glasses. This may seem obvious, but it is a very mistake. Additionally, if more than one wine is served, make sure that they are poured in a logical progression.

Especially with older wines, be aware that there may be a significant amount of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Keep this in mind when deciding the portion given to each guest. Avoid the embarrassing instance of the last person receiving an unacceptable amount of solids in their glass. If this is a concern with a particular bottle, refrain from pouring the last half glass.

It may be necessary or beneficial to decant a wine to either remove sediment or to expose it to oxygen. Be cautious with this practice, as older wines may quickly fade if left in a decanter for too long.

Wine enjoyment should be an enjoyable and unintimidating process. With these tips in mind, you are prepared for the majority of social situations that involve wine.

Take a look at a Fantastic Program
Thursday 28 February 2008 @ 3:18 pm

Everyone wants something for nothing.

Wouldn’t YOU love to “Make money while you sleep?” - “Work in
your Pajamas!” you’ve seen them all and you may even have spent
money on useless downloaded ebooks designed to draw you into
these pipedreams.

Sorry, it’s not that easy to make money on the internet.

I even bought three real beauts, promising me Barrels Full Of
Cash, Easy At Home Typing and Easy Work Filling In Forms On Line.

My wife has not been thrilled with my cash flow from these
ventures. My boy’s college fund is not exactly overflowing with
money either.

I have even spent a fortune on pay per click ads, with poor
results.

I fooled around with my own website for a painfully long time
and just couldn’t get it to make money until just a little while
ago.

I finally found an affiliate organization that gave a clod like
me the resources and tools that have finally started me making
some money.

At this organization’s member resource center, I have found HTML
text links, banners with groovy moving pictures, and even
turnkey pay per click ad ideas! They have done all the legwork
and even give you lists of keywords and keyword phrases that
have all been tested - you can even use their research to pre
price your keywords for best page placement. They have up to 30
products, all with fantastic resources as above, plus ready made
photo product images and more, all with your link preprogrammed.
Did I mention that they take care of all the HTML programming
for you? That was the best for me, who has no programming skill
whatsoever.

Persuade with Power
Wednesday 27 February 2008 @ 6:04 am

Mick Jagger said, “You can’t always get what you want.” But it doesn’t stop us from trying…and it shouldn’t. Yet what about those times when we’re less effective at communicating our wants and getting our reward. That can be frustrating when we try to put ideas across and wonder why others don’t seem to share our enthusiasm or interest. For personal to business communications here are a few simple concepts important to maximize your power of persuasion.

First, keep in mind the two fundamental human desires: to make a contribution or difference and to be received or “gotten” by others. Communication is a two-way street. We have to assist others to hear us when the time is best, digest our proposals and respond positively. When we don’t get a definite, “Now’s not a good time,” then it’s also knowing how to let go and move on.

1. Research is the first step in persuading others. You can’t even interest someone in going to see a movie with you if you don’t know the name of the movie, where it’s playing or the time. Do your homework before you approach your invitee.

2. Timing Always check if the timing for the conversation is right and you have their attention. Never assume you can walk in a room and start talking. Offer short friendly comments first, whether by email, phone or in-person. No one wants to feel disrespected by jumping into business topics without a few relationship-centered words exchanged first.

3. Clarity is the important third step in how you maximize the opportunity and explain the idea or plan. Practice your invitation beforehand to yourself, or with someone else. Know the most important parts to be communicated.

4. Encouragement creates interest or acceptance of your view and empowers others to action. It is not meant to persuade through convincing, cajoling or dominating. It is not meant to cause someone to undertake an action or embrace your point of view by means of argument, reasoning or entreaty. Encouragement stimulates support and inspires action.

5. Listening is a component of encouragement. Stop to hear the feedback from the person you’re talking with. Reflect on their comments, without judgment, before any additional response. Perhaps they have an aspect to the proposal you hadn’t considered. In true listening, you weigh their responses as much as you expect them to weigh yours. Sometimes literally repeat their comments back to them so they know they’ve been heard. Use comfortable body language to demonstrate your listening, without making them feel rushed.

6. Unattachment Of all the tools, this is your biggest power source. Have a clear intention and commitment to your idea or project, but be ready to let go, so you can change course if needed.

7. Alternation If your initial offer is declined, then you can counteroffer. If that fails, you can be prepared with a new idea in the wings. For example, you pitch a program that your prospective client isn’t interested in, you then offer an alternative program idea and get a similar “no” response. Since you’ve prepared ahead, you can now shift your attention to another project and possibly revisit the first idea at a later date.

Follow these winning strategies in persuading others and you’ll notice the results will be more frequent, more rewarding and repeatable.

Laurie Sheppard makes it easy to communicate personal or professional wants and get rewards. Learn 7 simple steps that will maximize your power of persuasion. For complimentary coaching and free coaching tools: http://www.creatingatwill.com

Cancer - We Know the Cause and the Cure
Wednesday 27 February 2008 @ 2:02 am

One has to wonder why after the billions of dollars put into research and development of cancer treatments it is reported that you have a higher chance of getting cancer today than you did in 1950. As a matter of fact if you are diagnosed with cancer today your chances of survival are what they were in 1950, in a lot of cases, most in fact.

Our health care system and our government have been lying and misleading the public about the effectiveness of the traditional medical treatment for cancer. Chemotherapy, drugs, surgery, and radiation are the most profitable health industry services and products on planet. There is more profit in the treatment of cancer than any other disease. Most of us have no idea what a big business this is. Some families make billions of dollars a year in profits from treating cancer. When we say treating cancer that’s exactly what is meant. There is much less profit in curing it. Think if we cured cancer now so that cancer were eradicated from the planet trillions of dollars would be lost! And the treatments are government mandated. So those at the top of this economic pyramid would rather you had cancer than not. You are forced to treat it in the manner that makes money for those who profit from disease. And that is obviously true since they actively keep alternative cures off the market or make it very difficult to provide and to choose an alternative method to cure cancer.

With any disease if you find the cause then the cure follows. So, then what is the cause of cancer? Researchers tell us that we don’t know the cause. That is just not true. According to “Natural Cures They Don’t Want You To Know About”, by Kevin Trudeaux, “The causes of cancer are known at the highest levels of the health industry, and this information is being suppressed and hidden from the American public. This is exactly the same situation that occurred with big tobacco and with Ford and General Motors. Big tobacco knew as early as 1950 that their product caused cancer and disease. They lied about this to the American public, and even in congressional hearings. They hid the truth. Ford and General Motors knew that some of their products, including the Pinto and Corvair, would cause people to be maimed, deformed, injured, and die. They hid this information and lied about it. Today, the pharmaceutical companies and the heads of various organizations know the various reasons people come down with cancer. They have this empirical data, but they are lying about it and hiding this from the public.”

There are those such as Kevin Trudeaux and Dr. Hulda Clark who are actively getting the word out and helping numerous people.
Dr. Hulda Clark has been doing extensive research and actively curing this disease for many years. Below is taken from The Cure for All Cancers, which you can purchase from the www.drclarkuniversity.org

“The Cause

The Cause For many years we have all believed that cancer is different from other diseases. We believed that cancer behaves like a fire, in that you can’t stop it once it has started. Therefore, you have to cut it out or radiate it to death or chemically destroy every cancerous cell in the body since it can never become normal again. NOTHING COULD BE MORE WRONG!
And we have believed that cancers of different types such as leukemia or breast cancer have different causes. Wrong again!

In this book you will see that all cancers are alike. They are all caused by a parasite. A single parasite! It is the human intestinal fluke. And if you kill this parasite, the cancer stops immediately. The tissue becomes normal again. In order to get cancer, you must have this parasite.

How can the human intestinal fluke cause cancer? This parasite typically lives in the intestine where it might do little harm, causing only colitis, Crohn’s disease, or irritable bowel syndrome, or perhaps nothing at all. But if it invades a different organ, like the uterus or the kidneys or liver, it does a great deal of harm. If it establishes itself in the liver, it causes cancer! It only establishes itself in the liver in some people. These people have isopropyl alcohol in their bodies.

All cancer patients have both isopropyl alcohol and the intestinal fluke in their livers. The solvent, isopropyl alcohol, is responsible for letting the fluke establish itself in the liver. In order to get cancer, you must have both the parasite and isopropyl alcohol in your body.”

From the book “The Cure for all Cancers.” Page 1.

Cancer can now be CURED:

From the book The Cure for All Cancers: Cancer can now be CURED, not just treated. We are not accustomed to thinking about a cure for cancer. We think of remission as the only possibility. But this book is not about remission. It is about a cure. This is possible because in 1990 I discovered the true cause of cancer. The cause is a certain parasite, for which I have found evidence in every cancer case regardless of the type of cancer. So lung cancer is not caused by smoking, colon cancer is not caused by a low-roughage diet, breast cancer is not caused by a fatty diet, retinal blastoma is not caused by a rare gene, and pancreatic cancer is not caused by alcohol consumption. Although these are all contributing factors, they are not THE cause. Once the true cause was found the cure became obvious. But would it work? I set a goal of 100 cases to be cured of cancer before publishing my findings. That mark was passed in December, 1992. The discovery of the cause and cure of all cancers has stood the test of time and here it is!

It is the pollutants in food and other products that leave us vulnerable to parasites and disease. Dr. Clark has invented a device called the Syncrometer, which is used to identify various toxins in food and products and ourselves. She has also developed a device called the zapper which kills the parasites in the body.

From the book “The Cure for all Diseases.” Before contents, by Dr. Hulda Clark, and also available at www.drclarkuniversity.org or www.drhuldaclark.org .
“You may not have time to read this entire book first if you have cancer and are scheduled for surgery, chemotherapy or radiation treatment. You may wish to skip the first pages which describe how cancer develops.

Go directly to the cancer curing recipe and order your supplies. Using the herbal recipe together with the zapper is best. It only takes days to be cured of cancer regardless of the type you have. It does not matter how far progressed the cancer is, you can still stop it in 5 days.

After you have stopped the cancer, you can turn your attention to getting well. Read the case histories to see how easy it is to stop even terminal cancer. Learn from them to avoid mistakes.

Does this mean you can cancel your date for surgery, radiation or chemotherapy? YES! After curing your cancer with this recipe it cannot come back. This is not a treatment for cancer: It is a cure! But if you do not wish to make your doctor angry, you could follow her or his wishes, too. Be careful not to lose any vital anatomical parts in surgery though, because you may need them later when you are healthy!

Remember that oncologists are kind, sensitive, compassionate people. They want the best for you. They have no way of knowing about the true cause and cure of cancer since it has not been published for them. I chose to publish it for you first so that it would come to your attention faster.”

From the book “The Cure for all Diseases.” After cover.
Different solvents accumulate in different organs, in the liver, Isopropyl alcohol, which completes the life cycle of Fasciolopsis, intestinal fluke. This begins the malignant process.

From the book Cure For All Diseases, also available at www.drclarkuniversity.org:

…The killing of all parasites and their larval stages together with removal of isopropyl alcohol and carcinogens from the patients’ lifestyle results in remarkable recovery, generally noticeable in less than one week. Cancer could be eradicated in a very short time…

Cancer
The success rate for advanced cancer is about 95%. So you can count on this method, not merely hope it will work for you. It is a total approach that not only shrinks tumors, but also normalizes your blood chemistry, lowers your cancer markers, and returns your health. The small failure rate (5%) is due to clinical emergencies that beset the advanced cancer sufferer. However, if you combine the advice in this book with access to hospital care, even “hopeless” patients can gain the time necessary to become well again.

The promise

Step into a new world a world without chronic diseases. Step out of your old world. It has kept you a prisoner. Try something new.

The prison has no walls. It has only lines; Lines that mark the ground around you. Inside the lines are your old ideas. Outside are new ideas that invite you to step over and escape your prison. Dare to try these new ideas and your illness promises to recede. In a few weeks it can be gone.

From the book “The Cure for all Diseases.” Page 1.

I highly recommend any of Dr. Clark’s books. They are remarkable and once you read them I believe you to will be convinced that the cause and the cure are now readily available and very affordable. In the Cure for All Diseases you will find cures for cancer, diabetes, MS, and many, many others it is a book I would not want to be without. If you already have cancer you might want to also pick up The Cure for All Cancers, and or the Cure for All Advanced Cancers.

Michele Michaels has been active in raising awareness for alternative and natural methods of curing and treating all manner of illnesses.

Teen Advice On-line
Tuesday 26 February 2008 @ 11:10 pm

There is no doubt about it. We are an electronic society. From our cable television sets to our satellite radios, our cell phones to our beepers, our global positioning devices to our palm pilots, and of course the world wide web - we are a truly connected society.

There are opportunities for educational and interest driven activities all around us but no where are they more readily available than on the World Wide Web. I wonder if we parents are prepared for the global reach of these intrusions into our parenting practices?

Our children no longer depend solely on the advice of their closest friends. Friends that we as parents can get to know and trust as not more or less worldly than our own children. There is so much information available to our children today on the internet, in the privacy of our homes, that it is often easier for our children to look for answers to personal questions on the web than risk the inquiry and concerns of their parents.

Children today are tech savvy - so we parents had better be too! Often our children are independent on the computer before we are. Writing their own web pages, downloading their own pictures, getting into chat rooms and sometimes circumstances that their limited experience hasn’t prepared them for, gleaning advice from young or uneducated individuals or people with different values than those of your family.

Of the many potential hazards on the internet faced by our children the sites with the biggest potential for causing the most serious harm are the teen advice web sites. These kind of sites have the ability to give out incorrect information to a stunningly large number of individuals by posting questions and the answering reply right to their web page. Only one teenager need ask the question and many more will believe the answer, correct or not, because it’s written right there in front of them and they are often too afraid or too embarrassed to look for another opinion. These question and answer sites are most often presided over by young, inexperienced or barely experienced, teens. These teen “counselor’s” are typically ages 13 and up. They give free, solicited, advice on everything from health care, sex and birth control, mental / emotional health concerns and legal issues.

These sites rarely have adult preceptors. Most sites do have a disclaimer stating that they are not responsible, nor liable for your teen’s life or any further problems your teen may experience in relation to the advice given. Those simply worded disclaimers won’t protect your teenager from the potential harm of an often-misinformed “teen counselor” who dishes out incorrect and possibly dangerous information.

Anything your teen wants to know and may not want to ask you about is available on the internet. These teen advice sites cover just about every subject you can imagine and many you wouldn’t want to. There are “Pro-Anorexia.” sites - dedicated to the encouragement of anorexic and bulimic behaviors. Sites specifically to give advice to young teens on methods of birth control (one of these I was presided over by a sexually active, 13 year old, girl). Gay, lesbian and straight sexuality sites. Sites for the practice of self-abuse and mutilation, Sites for finding ways to get high and more.

In reading some of these I was most amazed by the sheer volume of incorrect, often potentially life-threatening advice doled out by these “teen counselors.” They covered such topics as how many additional birth control pills to take if your partner didn’t use a condom. How to maintain a successful anorexic diet. The best way to purge and getting the cheapest high from everyday, household items. Do these internet sites serve a useful purpose? Yes, I think they can if they are catalysts for discussion between parents and their children. We have all read the flood of warnings about the internet hazards our children face, there seems to be a plethora of new ones daily, but these hazards can be educational tools as well. You can turn them into unique opportunities to increase our children’s knowledge and self-confidence. You can empower your children to find and make the right choices for themselves and to learn to trust their inner voices.

Give your children guidelines on what you find acceptable. If they want to explore something outside of those guidelines tell them it needs to be done with a parent so you are able to talk about any issues that arise. Teens want, need and deserve privacy and showing them where to get high quality, up to date information will help empower them to make safe choices.

Not all-teen sites should be grouped into one negative category. I found some high quality sites, for very young children up through the teen years, which offer complete, correct, and responsible information. Though no one site will match everybody’s family values and preferences it may be a good idea for parents to search out some of the sites they feel are best suited to their own family and email or bookmark them for their children.

Here are a few sites to check out:

Kids Health, Everyday Illness and Injuries: http://www.kidshealth.org/kid/ill_injure/ This is a great site for younger children to gain comforting information about common childhood questions, illnesses and injuries. Great basic information without the “fear-factor”.

CoolNurse: http://www.coolnurse.com/ Lots of high quality teen information! As a nurse myself I was gratified to see this site up. It’s upbeat and packed with information that is up to date and complete on just about any topic a teen could wonder about. This comprehensive site is also written in a modern, straightforward, non-condescending style that all age groups will appreciate.

Teen Advice On-Line: http://www.teenadviceonline.org/ This site has many articles with teen oriented topics. Seems conservative without preaching. Most of these counselors are 18 to 24 years in and they are from all over the globe.

Website Copywriter Tips: Web Copy 101
Tuesday 26 February 2008 @ 10:59 pm

You already know how to create great web copy. Just remember your childhood nursery rhymes. As silly as it sounds, “3 Blind Mice” will show you the way.

For some reason, “3 Blind Mice” paid me a visit. As I heard the 100th replay, it hit me - this would make great web copy. As a matter of fact, this simple little ditty contains 10 elements of Web Copy 101.

In case you’ve forgotten, here’s how it goes.

3 Blind Mice; 3 Blind Mice.

See how they run; see how they run.

They all ran up to the farmer’s wife;

She cut off their tails with a carving knife

Have you ever seen such a sight in your life

As 3 Blind Mice?”

Let’s see how this children’s nursery rhyme is a model of Web Copy 101.

Web Copy 101 #1, 2, 3 …3 Blind Mice (title or heading)

1) Try singing “A trio of visually impaired rodents, A trio of visually impaired rodents.” Catchy? Formal writing doesn’t sell. Write the way people speak and you will be heard. The title does something else for this song.

2) If you had to choose between songs entitled “Cows,” “Ducks,” or “3 Blind Mice,” which one would you choose? The title in all web copy has to grab the attention the reader. There’s more.

3) This alluring title makes the content clear right away. How many times do you stumble on a website only to find you’re not sure what they are selling or how it relates to you? Be sure your web copy uses the title or headline to set the table for the visitor.

Web Copy 101 #4 …3 Blind Mice, 3 Blind Mice (first line)

4) This song is going to be about little rodents, not geese. Does the first line of your web copy highlight what you offer, or at least whom your site is for? Good web copy is not mystery writing. Instead it says, “We’re here to sell you something and here’s why you need it today.”

Web Copy 101 #5, 6 … See how they run, See how they run

5) Repetition is the key to any message track and a staple of effective web copy. From a psychological point of view it lets your message become familiar and safe. From a search engine point of view repetition builds your keyword density and raises your search results. From a net reader perspective repetition in your web copy reinforces your message for the superficial reader who is scanning your site quickly. Repetition works on many levels. Let me say that again - repetition works on many levels.

6) The invitation to watch how the mice run around is also a clever way to involve the readers by getting them to do something. Does your site invite some kind of reader activity in the body of the web copy?

Web Copy 101 #7 … They all ran up to the farmer’s wife; she cut off their tails with a carving knife

7) A good way to stitch your ideas together and build more active involvement in your copy is to use pronouns (they, she). By forcing the readers to build connections between previous and current information pronouns keep your site visitors more engaged.

Web Copy 101 #8 … Have you ever seen such a sight in your life?

8) Do you know the best way to keep someone interested in what you are writing? What is 3 times 3? If you thought “nine” you proved my point. If you thought “eight” try night school. If you thought anything at all, you demonstrated the power of questions to generate reader participation. Everybody loves and needs to answer questions. Does your web copy provide thought provoking questions that get your reader thinking and involved?

Web Copy 101 #9, 10 … As 3 Blind Mice

9) Brilliant web copy. More repetition. Plus, the story ends where it started. One of the advantages of writing with search engines in mind is that keyword focus helps you stay on topic. The glancing reader needs this controlling idea to get the essence of why they need what you have, now. Is your site’s central idea consistently expressed all the way through your web copy?

10) True, the song is written for children, but notice the use of short, crisp sentences to tell the tale. How are you telling your tale? You want your web copy to be clear, smart and direct.

I hope they get stuck in your head - the 10 lessons that is, not the lyrics. By the way, no animals were hurt during the writing of the article about web copy 101.
