Do you LOVE to write? Are you so zeroed in on your writing that you are oblivious to distractions? In fact, distractions do not exist during this “Twilight Zone” period of timeyou keep on writing. When you are in “The Writing Zone” you ignore hunger pangs, ringing phones, yelling kids, bathroom breaks, etc. You lose all track of time: An hour seems like five minutes. Is that you?

When writers are in this state they LOVE what they are doing and are usually highly
skilled at it. The sheer pleasure of writing is what motivates the writer. Wouldn’t
you like to be in The Writing Zone so that you can write your great book effortlessly?
There are many ways to enter The Writing Zone.

• Be calm and stay focused on your writing. Once focus locks in, it takes on a
  force of its own. You are in your own private writing area where there are no
  distractions.

• You can enter the Zone when you are highly skilled at the task at hand. A good
  example is an athlete. The more an athlete practices the better he becomes.

• You can concentrate best when the demands of your writing are greater than
  usual, such as a publisher’s deadline.

• The Writing Flow is devoid of emotional feelings except for a highly motivated
  feeling of mild ecstasy. You are elated at what you are writing. You cannot stop.

The joy of the flow. When you are in this state you love what you are
doing. You are pushing the limits of your ability to sustain the flow. You stop
everything else you are doing at the time to fully concentrate on your activity. It is
at this time you may get angry with someone who interrupts you and breaks the
flow.

How to get the flow. We all want to achieve our goals experiencing the
“joy of the writing flow.” We will get through the goal much faster. Here are 10
ideas on how to get The Writing Flow:

1. First, you must want to write above all else.

2. You are totally immersed in it and no other thoughts enter your mind.

3. You master your craftgreat authors spend hours at a time learning their craft.

4. Practice. Practice. Practice. Keep a journal of what you write and the time you
   write. You may be surprised to discover that you do not put as many hours a week
   into your writing as you thought.

5. You become extremely competent at what you do.

6. Internally you feel you are engaged in a task that is RIGHT!

7. The key is to learn to overcome “noise” and interference, whether internal or
   external.

8. Develop a routine to your writing. Have your desk set up exactly as you want it
   to
   accomplish your task. If that includes a cup of coffee by all means have that cup of
   coffee ready before you start. If you must write with a yellow pad as opposed to a
   white one or a computer, then have plenty of yellow pads available.

9. Stay with the Moment. Focus on the task at hand, PERIOD. Do not let your
   thoughts
   drift to the future or “you go right out of your zone”and take your concentration
   with you.

10. You can take a short break to “get the creative juices flowing again.” Take deep
    breaths. Stay calm. Enjoy the moment. Relax your muscles. Do not start a
    conversation with anyone unless it is about your writing.

You have experienced “being in the Zone” in your life many times. You may not
have realized at the time what was happening. Being in The Writing Zone is as good
as it gets. It is for all of us to experience and enjoy.

Many people have the notion that commodity futures trading is very difficult to understand. It may only seem difficult when you are new to futures trading, but once you understand the inner workings and get a hang of it, you will be well on your way to success.

People have a common misconception that commodity exchanges determine or establish the prices at which commodity futures are bought and sold. This is not true. Prices are determined by supply and demand conditions. Just keep in mind that if there are more buyers than sellers, prices will be forced up and vice versa.

The major function of the futures market is the transfer of risk, and increased liquidity between traders with different risk and time preferences, for instance from a hedger to a speculator. Futures trading is a method used to eliminate or minimize risks that occur when the prices in the market fluctuates.

Futures contracts are exchange-traded derivatives. A futures contract is traded on a futures exchange, to buy or sell a certain underlying instrument at a certain date in the future, at a pre-set price. Futures contracts are basically for assumption or hedging.

There are two groups of futures traders: the hedgers, who are interested in the underlying commodity and are seeking to hedge out the risk of changes in price; and the speculators, who are interested in making a profit by predicting market moves and buying a commodity “on paper” for which they have no practical use. For example, commodities in the market can be bought today at today’s price, with the speculation of selling them at a higher price in the future.

On the other hand, hedging protects against fluctuations in market prices. This protection is made by allowing the risks of price changes to be transferred to professional risk takers. For instance, a manufacturer can protect itself from price increases in raw materials they need by hedging in the futures market.

Hedging has two types, hedge sale and hedge purchase. A person can buy a commodity and sell futures at the same quantity as protection against fluctuation in prices when he is still holding the stock.

You might think that this is gambling, but the fact is that speculation refers to the condition of a legitimate enterprise based on the current condition of the market trends. However, it is very risky for inexperienced futures traders who try to predict the market and speculate without having enough resources or experience.

Since the prices are distributed via telecommunications network and the internet, it makes online futures trading very convenient and simple for an individual. Nowadays many brokers offer their services for trading commodity futures online. Because more risk is involved in online futures trading than stock trading, you must judge for yourself whether or not it is worth the added risk of trading commodity futures online.

You’ve spend most of your young adult life recording every single episode of Seinfeld and Sex in the City - now you wish you’d waited until recordable DVDs had come out. Or your grandmother left you boxes of pictures and even old reel-to-reel movies, all crumbling and disintegrating, and you’d love to be able to copy them to a CD or a DVD. Or you want to take those family memories and share a copy with each of your eight daughters. How do you get your information and images from the closets and boxes of life into new electronic media?

First you have to understand the limitations. There’s only so much one can do with crumbling tapes and disintegrating images. A picture that’s faded - is never going to be in its original color. You can only capture what’s there right now. And if your tapes pop and scratch, you’ll have a recording on DVD or CD that pops and scratches too. Also, there’s a difference between analog media, like tapes, and digital media; when you transfer from one to the other, you’re going to see some quality issues.

Second, you have to understand your equipment needs. You will have to have a good computer, first and foremost, and preferably one that has lots of hard drive space so you can store your images, sounds, and moving images until they can be transferred to a more appropriate medium. When you purchase your computer, make sure it’s a multimedia computer. This ensures that it will have the right hookups for tape transferal. It will need a video hookup (that’s the three plugs in red, yellow, and white) to transfer VCR data, and you’ll need to purchase a scanner for those pictures. A DVD burner will be of the utmost necessity, preferably one that also burns standard CDs. Remote backup of your data is a good idea as well; for that, you should have a good high-speed hookup for your computer.

Now go out and study copyright law. You need to understand that some of what you’re doing may be construed as illegal one day, judging by the way court cases are going. The FBI warning that comes up at the beginning of every recorded movie warning against public showings or illegal copying is a very serious thing these days. When you copy copyright-protected materials, it is your responsibility to ensure that you are making them for your personal use only. Don’t do what some are doing, and copy the game, CD, or DVD before selling it secondhand; this is blatantly illegal and at some point it’s going to catch up with them.

Another piece of hardware may be necessary if you’re copying video games for your kids. It’s a good idea to make these copies for pre-teen children because of the damage they can do to CDs and DVDs; but you will need a special plug-in adapter for your video game console. In addition, you should be ready for a steep learning curve. It’s much harder to copy disk-based games than it is to copy movies or music. Remember, games are designed by programmers; the best copyblock programs are going to be found here, not on a movie. You will have to purchase special software and learn it in order to circumvent the copy blocks.

When you do have all the necessary equipment and knowledge, it should not be hard to copy anything you want into any medium, provided that medium has enough room. And you can do some really neat things as you copy them. For instance, you can edit out all the commercials in that 7-year run of Seinfeld. It may take you months, but ultimately you’ll have a perfect copy of all the episodes. Or maybe you want to turn your old pictures into a slide show, with sound, text, and voiceovers. With a good presentation program, you can do that. Disks like this make excellent anniversary presents, Christmas greetings, or engagement gifts to welcome new members of the family.

You can take old family movies and give them soundtracks if you like; or you can print all your grandma’s old pictures onto T-shirts to give away at the holidays. Really, once you have digitized your data and images, you have no limitations to what you can do to it except for your own imagination.

In the last decade, electronic media, computing advances, and the Internet have transformed our lives. They will continue transforming them for the foreseeable future. And media will also continue changing. If you make digitized copies of your memories, your media, and your information, you can ensure that they are preserved for the future. And by learning about the advances coming down the pike, you can prepare for future developments; for instance, smell technology is available for web designers these days. Wouldn’t it be neat to be able to record the smell of Mom’s apple pie, or of your favorite perfume, and play it back someday in the future? Smell, after all, is the sense most closely related to memory.

But for now, use your skills with electronic media copying to enhance your current media collection, preserve memories for the future, and show people how much they mean to you by giving them gifts of memories and love. Technology is just another tool that you can use to make your life and the lives of those you love better. Use it.

Besides the excitement of getting a puppy, one of the most challenging parts of dog ownership is teaching the dog to be obedient and establishing yourself as the dominant one in the dog-owner relationship. One of the basic obedience training points relevant in this regard is teaching your dog to sit on command.

As with every other dog training procedure, it is important to note that dogs are not humans and thus do not share your language or pattern of communication. It is important to bear this in mind, so that you will appreciate the essence of patience. For any reasonable results with dog training, it is important to be patient and repetitive with the training. Repetitions enable your dog to establish connections between your verbal commands and the action required of it. You should also learn to praise your dog every time he gets it right. Finally, the training sessions should not be boring to either of you. It is a good idea to keep the lessons short to start with and increase the time as you continue.

There are several training techniques to teach your dog to sit on command. Most dog trainers believe that you can start training your dog to sit at around three months old.

The first technique is simple and very good for young puppies. When you see your puppy about to sit, say the command ’sit’ firmly and when your dog sits, praise him for getting it right. In no time, your puppy learns to associate the verbal command with the act of sitting and you can then get your puppy to sit just by saying it.

The above technique might not be that effective for older puppies. With older puppies, you can practice this second technique. With your dog in front of you, hold a tasty treat and pass it across the dog’s nose and continue over his head a few centimeters high. In the process of trying to follow the motion of your hand, your dog assumes a sitting position. As soon as your dog plants his behind on the ground, say the word ’sit’ firmly. If he sits down, reward him for it. Later you will not need the treat to make your dog sit on command.

Getting your dog to remain sitting shouldn’t be as difficult. The idea is that when you command your dog to sit, he should remain sitting until you tell him to leave the sitting position. All you have to do is make your dig sit until you say a ‘release’ word that signifies that he is free to go. When in the sitting position, call your dog’s name and add the ‘release’ word/statement. Your dog should come to you. With time, the dog understands that the word means he can stop sitting. During the training sessions, if your dog gets up before the release word, show him your disapproval and make him sit again. This way, the dog understands that he is supposed to sit until you say the release word.

These are just a few of the several techniques that can help with your dog training. Again, remember that you may not get instant results, but repetition, patience and rewarding your dog every time he gets it right, will work in the end.

A indigenous plant or tree supports numerous other soil flora and fauna, birds and other animals through various ecological relations.An exotic plant or tree on the other hand, while not supporting the flora and fauna of that particular area, may actually have a deteriorating effect!

An example in India is the blunder of planting eucalyptus species for social forestry purposes.Eucalyptus has been given a great promotion by late Mr.Sanjay gandhi decades back as it seemingly required less water and grows fast, evenwhile giving some economic output in the form of timber and pulp.

Eucalyptus could have been selected for the afforestation in the areas where it is a naturally occuring species and will have some ecological relations establishes in the microclimate of that area.But planting this in areas where is is completely new.

Another grave blunder which is being practiced till day is, plantation with eucalyptus after clearing indigenous forest areas for the purpose of quarrying or mining purposes.In thiis case, the animals and other flora and fauna will be severely affected as indigenous species of that particular forest are replaced by eucalyptus and the area supporting their food and shelter requirements gets compressed and increases interspecific and intraspecific competetion. In these cases of reforesting the cleared forests, a mix of the existing species can be used for plantation.These species may not be economically rewarding like eucalyptus or grow fast as eucalyptus or any other exotic species. But they have lot of ecological significance and cannot be valued monetarily. More ideally the cleared area has to be filled in with mud from the existing forest so that the microclimate of the forest is replicated and helps the cleared area to gel uniformly in course of time.

Moreover the indigenous plants or trees survive in the natural rainfall and hence need no additional inputs.

I just gave an example of Eucalyptus, as it is widely planted in India, the similar is the case with unjudicious use of many other exotic plants.

I am not against exotic plants in general, but it has to be avoided when going for large scale plantations.In gardens they can be monitored well and can be accomodated 10 percent.Let the remaining 90% beauty be attined from indiginous species.

I request the readers not to get confused with what i mean indigenous or exotic.By indiginous i mean that belongign to a particular microclimate or small area with in a district or state or a country.By exotic we mean a plant not naturally occuring in that particular area or micro climate.
